During a break one evening last year in a class I was attending in pursuit of my certification in hypnotherapy (therapeutic hypnosis is a profoundly effective means of restoring one's potential for fulfillment and I have begun integrating this modality into my coaching practice), a classmate asked me what techniques I use in my empowerment coaching. I gave him an authentic yet typical response based on my particular approach to coaching.
My reply was indeed sufficient for his inquiry, but the following morning while in meditation I had a most profound realization. Your very being is the technique employed for bringing about desired results! As I mentally followed this train of enlightened thought I began to realize more authentically that since we are already "whole organisms" - and you would have to be in order to sustain life because it requires such an interactive “collective“ of dynamics in order for you to be a living entity- that our very being itself is the means (technique) of restoration or desired change.
The best analogy for explaining this is the process by which the body heals itself of a wound. When you incur a wound such as a cut, unconsciously, your body's “awareness” (that word is going to be key to this explanation) of an infraction to its wholeness mobilizes the platelets, clotting processes and everything else necessary to begin healing the wound - immediately. If your body was not aware on a subjective level that something was amiss, it would not respond to the breach in its holistic nature causing it to bring about healing.
Your being can also heal itself of the circumstantial "wounds" of life as well! In truth, anything occurring in your life that does not reflect the intrinsic wholeness of life (things such as lack, limitation, disease, disharmony, stagnation, etc.) is essentially a wound! And, just as your body's awareness of a physical wound sets healing into play your AWARENESS of unsatisfactory conditions in your life is akin to being aware of a wound and healing begins immediately.
So why then do debilitating issues become chronic dynamics in our life or appear difficult to heal? Because we are not AWARE of our intrinsic healing capacity. Whatever we are aware of becomes the law unto our experience; if we are not aware that we are a magnificent healing machine (even with regards to our affairs) then we will not facilitate the restoration as a reality in our experience. Just like the healing of a physical wound, if the "body" is not aware of something it does not address it. Indeed you are aware of a particular limitation before you, but are you aware that your fundamental nature is sufficient to heal that wound of limitation? Can it be that simple, you ask? Well, the healing of a cut goes on without you even lifting a finger! You indeed do what is necessary to promote healing such as cleaning and dressing the wound but this simply promotes the healing - the healing itself takes place very naturally!
This is the awareness you must bring to bear on any problem facing you. Simply begin viewing the problem as a wound that your greater, fundamental being is now addressing and healing. Notice that worrying, struggling, fearing, judging, condemning, manipulating, coercing, avoiding, ignoring, pleading and wishing is NOT a part of the simple dynamic of: viewing the situation as a wound and knowing that the healing properties of your intrinsic being are now addressing it. Authentically engaging this awareness - and not simply parroting a phrase or affirmation repetitively, but truly appreciating and reminding yourself of the absolute truth about your nature - becomes the assurance that all that is necessary - including the decisions, actions or components required for appropriate restoration - are in place. In the words of noted chiropractor Joe Dispenza, "You're riding on the back of a giant - all you have to do is learn to whisper in its ear."
The next time someone asks me of techniques for empowerment, I am simply going to point right at them!
Stand up and be your own salvation.
